CAVCLO RAILROAD

CAVCLO Railroad project has lasted for almost three months. Back in May a customer contacted us and asked if we could create several curved deck girders and box piers for an Arboretum he and his son were creating.  Each box pier was to have bridge shoes, riveted gussets and fully laced detail beams.

The customer sent us many detailed drawings of what he wanted and measurements for every bridge and pier.  It was up to us to figure out how each bridge would fasten together. The challenge of this was the size of the piers and the height of the girders. The deck girders had to be three different heights, 2.25”, 2.65” and 3.65”.  We soon came to the conclusion to add a girder to one side of the box pier so the different sized deck girders would still line up and the train would run smoothly. The piers also varied in heights from 4.5” to 10.5” tall. These piers are the smallest and most detailed we have yet to build.

This customer has been a pleasure to work. We now have plans in the works to continue and add bridges to his layout. To be continued…..

O-Gauge

For this O-gauge project our goal was to model a bridge on the North Shore Line. The customer sent us a picture of what he wanted and a few specifics on details. The customer had decided on a riveted double track deck girder. With the deck girder he had asked that we create the two abutments in the picture to compliment the deck girder.

This deck girder was the first of its kind. We designed two separate rail beds for the bridge to give the customer freedom on where he wanted to place his tracks. These rail beds fit nicely behind the girder plates so that they are not noticed from the side view. We also added rivets, lettering and custom paint to the girder rails.

The next phase of this project was the abutments. We decide to create the abutments out of H.D.P.E. a plastic material. This material can be cut like wood but will last forever. We also added holes to the abutments so that the deck girder could be fasten in securely. Later when the abutments were finished we sprayed them with a textured plastic sandstone paint to create a concrete look.

Mainline Bridges Relocation

We at Mainline Bridges are very proud to announce our relocation to beautiful sunny Arizona. A lot of people have been rumoring a merge with another company. We want to set the record straight! Mainline Bridges has not and does not intend a merge with any other company.
We plan to continue to bring our customers hand welded, made in the USA, quality custom works that form their dreams into realities.
The reason for this relocation to Arizona from Pennsylvania was the weather. This may sound silly to some of you but 95% of the time Arizona has beautiful sunny skies. It is hot but only for a few short months. The rest of the year the weather is perfect. Not to mention it is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World! We love it here!
At Mainline Bridges we have been working very hard on setting up dealers all over the country. This will help us keep the cost of shipping down for all of you. We also will spend a few months of the year on the east coast to visit customers, install bridges and layouts and participate in train shows.
