CAVCLO Railroad project has lasted for almost three months. Back in May a customer contacted us and asked if we could create several curved deck girders and box piers for an Arboretum he and his son were creating.  Each box pier was to have bridge shoes, riveted gussets and fully laced detail beams.

The customer sent us many detailed drawings of what he wanted and measurements for every bridge and pier.  It was up to us to figure out how each bridge would fasten together. The challenge of this was the size of the piers and the height of the girders. The deck girders had to be three different heights, 2.25”, 2.65” and 3.65”.  We soon came to the conclusion to add a girder to one side of the box pier so the different sized deck girders would still line up and the train would run smoothly. The piers also varied in heights from 4.5” to 10.5” tall. These piers are the smallest and most detailed we have yet to build.

This customer has been a pleasure to work. We now have plans in the works to continue and add bridges to his layout. To be continued…..

I surveyed the location of the track for these bridges and then sent Mainline Bridges all of the necessary dimensions of the girder bridge sections and the pier heights. The photos show the high degree of close and accurate workmanship required to design and build this 39' long string of bridges. They arrived today and are absolutely exquisite! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

The 12 sections of continuous girder bridges totaling 33'9" have been screwed together and are on their double piers. There are 4 different radius curves of 32', 7'6", 10' and 7'6". The girder bridges and double piers look absolutely exquisite and the custom vinyl lettering is superb.The curved bridge sections needed to be precision cut and they line up perfectly, not even 1/16" off line at either end, THANX Damian!!

THANK YOU DAMIAN ! ! Your second batch of custom welded and painted girder bridges with double piers, 10 piers and 11 bridge sections totaling 36', arrived May 12,2012. The FedEx driver realizing that he had a " " V.I.P." " shipment onboard , pulled his truck right up to our garage door. He exclaimed that he had never seen such well-engineered and superbly constructed packaging made out of wrapped in plastic, very geometrically and accurately cut 1 1/2" thick pieces of exterior-grade styrofoam. As he was handing me the "cocooned" packages of girder bridges and the styrofoam-lined boxes containing the piers, he said that everyone between Phoenix and New Jersey wanted to know what was inside and handled the shipment with ultra-care. When he heard that they were steel bridges for an outdoor railroad he was astonished. There wasn't so much as even the slightest scratch on any of the packages and boxes. After opening the "cocoons" and the well-foamlined boxes, it was readily seen that there had been absolutely no concealed damage. Thanx Fedex AND thanx, again, Damian for all of your world-class girder bridges and piers ! !
